Tool: The What Would I Tell Someone Else Reframe

This worksheet helps you notice a gap that most people never stop to look at directly: the gap between the advice you would give someone else in your exact situation, and the advice you are actually following yourself. You will identify what you would confidently tell another person facing what you are facing, and then you will turn that same advice back toward yourself, on purpose, in writing.

You give better advice to strangers than you give to yourself.

You’ve talked a friend off the ledge, told a sibling exactly what they needed to hear, seen someone else’s situation with total clarity, and known exactly what they should do.

So why can’t you do the same for yourself?

That gap isn’t a mystery, and it isn’t a character flaw.

It’s a pattern almost everyone in recovery falls into: one set of standards for the people we love, and a much softer, much more forgiving set for ourselves.

Somewhere along the way, you gave yourself permission to ignore the answer you already have.

This course won’t teach you anything brand new.

It will show you what you already know, written in your own words, aimed back at you.

If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking “I would never let someone I love do what I’m doing right now,” this is the moment to stop letting yourself be the exception.
